OUR HISTORY

An exciting challenge with the aim to continuously improve and ensure quality and sustainability of what we offer. With respect and care for our customers and the environment around us.

1948

OUR ADVENTURE BEGINS

It is Giovanni Lepore senior who begins our adventure. At the age of 14, his love for the sea led him to buy a small wooden boat, to learn the fishing trade and to learn about the many fruits that the Adriatic sea offers.

1953

THE FIRST POINT OF SALE

He opened a small shop overlooking the sea, in Puglia, but in the meantime his desire to grow is already leading him to transport and trade wholesale fish from Puglia to other regions.

1960

THE FIRST COMPANY

The “Giovanni Lepore” company is born, known and appreciated above all for the sale of sword fish.

1980

A POINT OF REFERENCE

Over the years the company carves out an important role in the Puglian and Campanian fish market, becoming a point of reference for the marketing of Adriatic fish.

1995

LEPORE MARE IS BORN

A year of changes, Giovanni Lepore retires and ceases his business. From this moment, thanks to the advent of the new generation “Lepore Mare srl” is born.

2000

NEW MARKETS

A new, dynamic company that, within a few years, becomes bigger and bigger, implementing a policy based on research, quality assurance, new products, service and variety. The experience and competence, the qualitative choices and the increasingly advanced know-how allow for an affirmation recognized by the retail and wholesale distribution networks. An important phase is beginning which will be the lever for the achievement of global commercial development.

2007

INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION

A new shellfish purification and shipping centre and a new storage warehouse for fresh and frozen products are developed, to which over time the new processing and packaging departments are added.

2009

university collaboration

Important collaborations begin with the Facolty of Agriculture at the University of Foggia and with the Faulty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bari. The company also becomes the seat of research doctorates for technologists and veterinary hygienists.

2014/15

QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORIES

The internal analysis laboratory is inaugurated and an industrial kitchen is installed in which all the new products to be placed on the market are tested. Lepore Mare becomes S.p.A.

THE CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE

A new production line with the inclusion of modern concept machinery for packaging in ‘Skin’, and the construction of technologically advanced cells for storing the product at -60°C, make it one of the most up to date companies in the market. We make use of the most modern and complete management software (SAP) and we entrust our auditing to KPMG SpA.
